We’re figured that it’s about time we write a nice little guide for those of you out there who own the first generation Apple TV device. The first generation is actually considered by many to be the more powerful of the ATV model lineup, because of the fact that it has more hardware power and the software is based on Mac OS (similar to that of a computer) rather than the iOS (what powers iPhones and iPads) mobile operating system. Many people go ahead and actually install Mac OS on their Apple TV and along with some Bluetooth accessories use it similar to a Mac Mini computer.

on Mac

Step 4: Once the progress bar is full and the last line in the text box says “Complete!” go ahead and Unplug the USB Thumb Drive from your computer.

Step 5: Unplug the Power Supply from the back of your Apple TV 1 device, then plug the USB Thumb Drive into the back of your device, then replug the Power Supply.

Step 6: Wait a few minutes for the process to complete, you’ll be seeing all kinds of technical jargon floating down the screen.
Step 7: Once complete, unplug the Power Source, Remove the USB Flash Drive, and Replug the Power Source.
Step 8: Configure your Wireless Internet connection if applicable, under the “Settings” -> “Network” -> “Configure WiFi” menu.
