Jailbreak the Apple TV 2 Running 5.0.1 Firmware Untethered

The much anticipated untethered jailbreak for the latest version of Apple TV 2 firmware has finally been released and now allows you to update your device to iOS 5.1.1, also known as the Apple TV firmware version 5.0.1 9B206f update. This is very good news, now you can finally the new firmware untethered, meaning you’ll now also be able to take full advantage of new native functionality that was only introduced in this update. It’s very easy to reflash and jailbreak your device with Seas0nPass and we’re going to explain how.

for Mac (pretty much the same for Windows)

Requirements

• Latest Version of Seas0nPass Software
• Updated Version of iTunes Installed
• Second Generation Apple TV Model
• Micro USB Cable

If you’ve already installed a previous version of Seas0nPass, it would be wise to uninstall it and then proceed with the new edition.

Step 1: Download and Launch the Seas0nPass software application on your computer.

Step 2: Press the “Create IPSW” button on the left of the window.

Step 3: Wait a few minutes while Seas0nPass downloads the latest firmware file and patches it with the jailbreak code.

Step 4: When prompted, connect the device to your computer by Micro USB cable.

Should the indicator light at the front of the device not turn on, you’ll want to plug it into the Power Source for 15 Seconds before plugging it back into the Micro USB cable.

Step 5: Press and Hold both the “MENU” and “PLAY/PAUSE” buttons on the Remote Control for 14 Seconds, then release.

Step 6: Don’t touch anything, iTunes will launch automatically and begin restoring your device with the new jailbroken firmware.

Step 7: Unplug the device once iTunes displays the notification confirming that your device has been successfully restored. You can go ahead and close iTunes now.

Step 8: You may now close the Seas0nPass software application as well.

Congratulations! You’ve now flashed your second generation Apple TV 2 device with the latest factory firmware that has been patched with Seas0nPass jailbroken code. You’ll probably want to go ahead and Install nitoTV or XBMC now.
